Refugee Shabbat at Temple Beth El South Orange County

February 25, 2022 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Refugee Shabbat with Rabbi K’vod and Cantor Young
With special guest Naqib Mirzada
Friday, February 25 – 7:00 pm

When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt…(Exodus 19:33)

At this Shabbat service we will join together with synagogues all over the country who will celebrate a Refugee Shabbat. We will be focusing on the essential mitzvah of welcoming the stranger and, through hearing the story of one refugee, Naqib Mirzada, we will learn how we can be a part of helping Afghan refugees build new lives here in Orange County.

We are also introducing our new monthly “Flashback Friday” evening service where we are transported back to the prayer melodies of TBESOC thirty years ago.

If you choose to attend in person, please check the website for their protocols. Services will also be live-streamed at https://www.tbesoc.org/livestream.html.
